How do you make money online? Find a need and fill that need. Sounds easy to do, but for the most of us, it isn’t. For some, however, just following their hobby and doing a great job is the easiest way to riches. Take Whateverlife.com
Fast Company has a great story about Whateverlife.com’s owner AshleyQualls. Ashley started out as a teenage girl who liked making cool layouts for MySpace. The story goes on how she started to get requests from others to make layouts, so Whateverlife.com was created.
How Does Whateverlife.com Make Money?
Guess how much Ashley charges for her layouts. Zero, zip, nothing, nada. Her layouts are free of charge. How does she make money you ask, one word: advertising. Between Adsense and ValueClick Media, the article say, Whateverlife.com bring down roughly $70,000 per month. Let’s face it, John Chow has nothing on Ashley!
As her business grows, Ashely has also expanded what she offers. She’s creating tutorials for MySpace, and is currently looking into her own social network.
At it’s most basic form, Whateverlife.com offers a product at zero cost and visitors bring her revenue in the form of clicks or just from the sheer amount of “eyeballs” she commands, with a traffic rating of 7 million visitors and 60 millions page views a month. Her target audience is the teenage girls on MySpace who are constantly on the prowl for the next new layout, video, or widget to add to their MySpace page.

Interesting article. I am not into MySpace anymore so I had no idea what this Whateverlife.com was until now.
Maybe it’s just me and because I’m old, but I don’t get MySpace. I’m mainly just local or old high school / grade school friends.
Quite an amazing accomplishment. Windows of opportunity open and close very quickly on the Internet. It seems that Ashley delivered on a great idea at the right time in the right place. Kudos to her.
cool
