Project: I, Blogger — Time to Do An Experiment
By Desty on Jul 29, 2007 in I Blogger
I’ve been debating, internally of course, over the last two weeks with an idea I’ve had. From my perspective, it is a violation of trust of my readers. However, I’ve never seen it done or heard of it being done. So, I’m going to roll the dice, take the plunge, and do it. I’m using WordPress’s ability to TimStamp articles, writing this before I start tonight, and this will post tomorrow. My goal is to see if what I’m about to do is either
- Ignored
- Accepted
- Flamed
So, if you are one of my readers involved in this experiment, and you get really pissed off, I’m sorry. My goal is to push the bounds of blogging behavior and see what is viewed as aceeptable behavior and what is considered going past that line.

Intriguing……
I’m curious why you feel this is a violation of readers’ trust.
I don’t see how it could be, but I’ll listen to any reasonable answer.
I future-post all the time. Do you trust me any less? Are my articles now without value? Post date is just that: the date of the post. Most people probably write and post all at once in real time, but that doesn’t create any kind of unwritten contract between a blogger and his or her readers.
A post could’ve remained in draft status for weeks. It gets published when I want it to. It’s one of the best ways to remain efficient and organized for a blogger such as myself who also has a regular full-time job.
I’m sorry Mike, you misunderstand. I’ve done something, something that I’m waiting on the results of before I say what it is, but it’s this SOMETHING that I think is a violation of my readers’ trust. Then again, I’m an old fashioned southerner, so what I see is a bad thing to do could be a non-issue to others. I’ll give it two more days before I say what I did.
Well, alright, now you got me all curious. It wouldn’t be a secret program, would it?
By the way, you should really get a subscribe to comments by email plugin. It would make staying involved in the comments easier!
It’s not so much a secret program, more like some active actions I took. Again, more than likely once I post what I did, should be today, it could be that no one sees it as a big deal. I, on the other hand, would be concerned.
I’ll be shopping for a subscribe to comments plug-in this weekend!
