If you would, please check out my About Me page.  That picture you see is me and my two boys, Michael (right) and Matthew (left).  They, along with my wife Jennifer (not shown, she’s taking the picture) are the light and love of my life.  They are what gives my life meaning and focus.

When things get stressful at work, pushing myself to wring the last drop of creativity for a blog article, or just dealing with a nasty back pain (like tonight), I just have to look to those three and they lift me up.  I can accomplish anything for them.

When I have to work late, I don’t like to do it.  It keeps me away from my family.  You must have something to work for, something to protect, to support.  To put forth your greatest efforts, you need to have the push and desire to do better for others, not just yourself.

Great pic, Desty. I know how you feel, because I also have a family to care for. My step-daughter and her 2-year-old live with me and my wife. Deciding whether to spend time with the family or spend time making money for them can be really hard, sometimes. I could have been working on my blogs, etc., last night, but instead, we went out for creemees. I judge that was time better spent going out for creemees!

I see alot of articles about working hard on your blog, blogging is hard work, etc. It is. You have to put things into perspective. Is blogging more important than your family? No contest, family first. What if you’re blogging to help your family out? The rule I try to go by is to consider how do you want your kids to remember their childhood, running and playing with momma and daddy, or momma or daddy on the computer all the time?

Desty that’s such a good point. I don’t have the kids and wife yet, but I have a vision of what I want life to be like, and I’m diligently trying to do whatever it takes to get there! Good inspirational article.

My advice is to get where you want in life and find a special someone to share your life with. Now, I’m not saying wait until you get where you want and shut people out of your life. Just that if you find that special someone make sure that they see and understand what you’re doing from a business perspective. If they think running or owning a business is too risky, then you’ll be butting heads constantly and more than likely the relationship won’t last. Just my opinion :)
