Everyone wants to hit the mother load of traffic from Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines. For most of a young blog’s life, probably only 25% of all traffic comes from search engines, if they’re lucky!
The easiest way to bring search engine traffic to your blog is very simple.
It’s all in your title!
Your job as a writer is to not only create interesting titles for your articles, titles that make people curious to read your article, but from an online marketing point of view, you need to load your title up with specific keywords. These keywords will drive traffic from search engines to your articles.
Here is a prime example of what NOT to do in relation to using keywords in your title. One of my favorite articles, Plan Your Trip for Your Business is about what business owners should think about before starting their business, a board mental process that leads to creating a business plan. I had traffic coming from Google where people wanted to know what to pack and how to prepare for actual business trips! While any traffic is good traffic, I seriously doubt those readers stayed to read the article, much less check out other articles.
I had a suggestion to use certain specific keywords, such as “make money online.” While Desty Online isn’t a “how to make money online” blog per say (we’re more about the business but have you actually ever did a search for how to make money online? Do you have any idea on how much competition there is from for those three keywords?
When creating a title, from an SEO point of view, think about your target audience. Who do you want to reach? Now the process calls for some creativity on your part. What do you think your target audience will enter into Google so they can find your article? Master that, and you’ll have the holy grail of traffic, organic search engine traffic.

I also read that lists are very powerful, so if you have a Top 10 or Top 5 something in your listing then that really brings in visitors.
List articles are great for Digg, Blog Buzz, and other submission sites. Putting keywords in your titles helps direct traffic to your articles.
