How Much Is Your Pride Worth?

Blog contests seem to be all the rage these days. Basically they consist of writing an article on your blog about a contest, usually dropping in a few links along the way. In exchange, you will be put into the running to win the prize. I’ve seen contests for iPods, Wii, books, LCD monitors, the list goes on.
I’ll all for free stuff, but be honest, what does these contest entry articles do for your readers? The only worth I can find is they communicate the existence of the contest so they too can enter if they so wish.
I used to do this. Just got back about 2 months or so and you’ll see several contest entry articles. I really could have used the LCD monitor…
So, why talk about it? I was going through my RSS subscriptions and found an article titled, “I Want to Win a Wii!” I felt embarrassed. Maybe it’s just me, but it felt pretty sad. I can’t say too much though, because I’ve done it too.

hahahah….well hey….. everyone has done it at some point. Even the super heavyweight bloggers have.
That’s true. I just feel like its a betrayal. Do you see Time writing an article where they get something back, and help promotion of the contest? They do, it’s called advertising, and they don’t do it for free, or a chance to win something.
