Desty’s Gold Starred Articles August 19th 2007

Gonna start this set of articles off with a bang.  My Presentation @ Affiliate Summit East 2007 by Amit Mehta links to video presentations of various affiliate marketers from the Affiliate Summit East.  I’ve been a fan of Amit’s for a couple of months now and this is what I’ve been waiting for.  Amit’s video is session 3c and is 1 hour and 1 minute long.  When you have time, there are several other videos to watch, but watch Amit’s first.

With the Google PR update supposedly taking place now (some say it’s already done) a Smart PageRank Review from Performancing.com tells you everything you need to know about what PageRank is.  All the talk floating around about what PageRank is, Raj introduces Smart PageRank, a free service that all bloggers and affiliate marketers who have interests in their sites’ PageRank should take advantage of.

A few weeks ago when I was upgrading Desty Online, I was accused of reading 5 Simple Steps to Set up a John Chow blog from Blogging Tips.  I hadn’t, but I did like the theme of Mr Chow’s site, so I did read and got the theme :)

Stuart from Earners Blog writes about Affilaite Marketing as a Passive Income.  This article goes over something very dear to my heart, Passive Income.  Passive income is something everyone should strive for, but you don’t want to focus on one source of passive income.  Several sources of passive income should be sought after should one source disappear; you never know what could happen.

Andy Beard wrote a great article titled Steal Content From Download Squad to Get Links!  Andy doesn’t really mean to steal content from anyone, but he does go over what you really shouldn’t do when someone steals an article from you.  I’ve started to get some scrappers linking my content.  They haven’t copied entire articles yet, only the intro and link back to my site, so hopefully that’s as far as it will get.

I would probably try to include references to your own posts within the content a little more, as some of those sploggers strip out related posts on the end.

Also you seem to have a problem with your autodiscovery feeds being the wrong URL, and not redirecting to Feedburner, I am not sure why they appear wrong.

That’s strange, I’m using the Feedsmith plugin for my feeds. I wonder if it’s something I did before I installed the plugin. I have “twiked” my code somewhat in attempts to get it to look and do what I want.

The Feedburner Redirect will only redirect the URL it is expecting

I am sure you will get it fixed, just borrow the right code from the header of another theme

I think I have the autodiscovery code fixed. Could anyone check this out and post here to let me know? I’m not in a position to try a browser subscription at this time. Appreciate it! /Shawn
