			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Started off with our theme in social media (with a focus on social network marketing) we go to Vandelay Website Design with <a target="_blank" href="http://www.vandelaydesign.com/blog/social-media/plan/">What Is Your Social Media Plan?</a>  It&#8217;s a well written, step by step, explanation on what steps you need to take in-order to take advantage of traffic from social networks (such as Digg, StumbleUpon, etc) and turn them into new readers on a long term basis.</p>
<p> Next we go to Performancing.com and <a target="_blank" href="http://performancing.com/why-good-bloggers-have-an-advantage-in-seo">Why Good Bloggers Have an Advantage in SEO</a>.  Why it&#8217;s a great article from start to finish on how the normal SEO rules don&#8217;t apply to bloggers, point number one focuses on social media and how use of those social sites can change the face of a site in a very short time.</p>
<p>Finally we go to the ProBlogger himself for an article on how to manually do a form of social networking with <a target="_blank" href="http://www.problogger.net/archives/2007/09/15/building-readership-by-monitoring-what-other-bloggers-are-writing">Building Blog Relationships by Monitoring What Other Bloggers are Writing</a>.  Darren writes about his early experiences in searching for sites that had problems with their digital cameras (he runs a digital camera blog), read their articles, and gave them suggestions and help through comments.  His helpful comments brought those bloggers and readers of those blogs to his blog for their digital camera questions.  Building his readership 1 reader at a time.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m thinking more and more about my <a href="http://www.destyonline.com/the-call-answered-does-blogging-help-your-business/">new enterprise</a>, so with that in mind, we&#8217;ll get down to it.</p>
<p>Court writes <a target="_blank" href="http://www.destyonline.com/the-call-answered-does-blogging-help-your-business/">Is a Visitor Is a Visitor Is a Visitor?</a>  It has a direct tie-in to the differences between <a href="http://www.destyonline.com">Desty Online</a> and my new project.  Desty Online is what I guess you could call a personal blog where I write about businesses.  I don&#8217;t ask people to buy stuff, we&#8217;re more about sharing information and experiences.  As such, our revenue model is more hands on, via reviews and advertising.  My new project, while very labor intensive in the design phase, should only require weekly changes and updates once per month; it&#8217;s revenue model will be purchase based and a commission from affiliates. </p>
<p>A guest post on Bluehat SEO by SEOcracy titled <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bluehatseo.com/guest-post-make-50-dollars-a-day-with-google-custom-search/">Make $50 dollars a day with Google Custom Search</a> added to my plans for the navigation on my new project.  Right now, the navigation for the new site will be search driven rather than a normal blog&#8217;s catagory listing.  As such, any extra revenue I can draw from those searches is just icing on the cake.</p>
<p>What got the whole new project started?  Well I was checking out the advertisement badge for LinkShares (located in the upper right hand side) and found a high profile affiliate.  I read through their information and joined up, not really know how I would work it.  Later, I read an article on Bluehat SEO titled <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bluehatseo.com/affiliate-marketing-through-rss-feeds/">Affiliate Marketing Through RSS Feeds</a>.  I thought to myself, why not create a site for that affiliate that is all about the products, and also take advantage of the scrapers?  I&#8217;ve seen so many scraps of <a href="http://www.destyonline.com">Desty Online</a> where they didn&#8217;t bother to take out my links, so why not get them to work for me?  The new project should get tons of scraps due to the keywords to be used.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We start off this week with BONTB&#8217;s article <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bontb.com/2007/09/using-you-comment-i-follow-to-build-blog-links" title="Using ">Using &#8220;You Comment I Follow&#8221; to Build Blog Links</a>.  A simple to article to build up a nice link count for your blog.  I don&#8217;t advertise the fact that <a href="http://www.destyonline.com/back-into-the-dofollow-fold/" title="Back Into the DoFollow Fold">I use DoFollow</a> beyond my articles.  I totally agree with the article&#8217;s suggestion that you stay on topic.  From first hand experience, I delete what I consider spam comments; everyone does.  I don&#8217;t go for the comment:</p>

<p>I&#8217;m willing to put up with the &#8220;nice blog&#8221; comment, but when you just throw your non-related url in the comment, uh uh, sorry, not going to happen.</p>
<p>On the related topic of comments, Paul from O&#8217;Flaherty Blog give us <a target="_blank" href="http://blog.oflaherty.dk/2007/09/15/spammers-make-it-personal" title="Spammers Make It Personal">Spammers Make It Personal</a>.  Paul gives an insight into his comment moderation.  Given my tactics on comments and trying to turn spammers into readers, if the comment itself isn&#8217;t spammy, I&#8217;m fine with the URL part of the commentor&#8217;s identity.</p>
<p>Performancing.com throws an excellent article titled <a target="_blank" href="http://performancing.com/why-good-bloggers-have-an-advantage-in-seo" title="Why Good Bloggers Have an Advantage in SEO">Why Good Bloggers Have an Advantage in SEO</a>.  This is one of those articles that really gets you to thinking.  How are you doing in your online marketing?  What can you do better?  I tend to think in terms of what activity I can do that takes the least amount of time but gives the best in terms of rewards.  Time generally tends to be what limits us in our actions.</p>
<p>Another great article about SEO, this time from Strategic Internet Marketing titled <a target="_blank" href="http://courtneytuttle.com/2007/09/14/better-rankings-by-reconfiguring-in-site-link-popularity/" title="Better Rankings by Reconfiguring In-Site Link Popularity">Better Rankings by Reconfiguring In-Site Link Popularity</a>.  I&#8217;m always a sucker for SEO articles.  It&#8217;s not that I&#8217;m dim-witted by any means, but the easier the articles are in making their point and spreading information, the better I like them.  Everyone should be interested in SEO for their sites.</p>

<p>Must be an advertising special this week!  Reality Wired brings us <a target="_blank" href="http://www.realitywired.com/2007/08/30/text-link-ads-how-to-find-post-level-ads-that-will-make-your-traffic-soar">Text Link Ads: How to Find Post Level Ads That Will Make Your Traffic Soar</a>.  James goes over the requirements to buy post level text links from Text-Link-Ads.  From a promotional standpoint, if you can buy some post level text links from some of the high profile bloggers such as John Chow, Problogger, or Shoemoney, it could really give alot of bang for your buck.  The way I figure it, normal text link ads send out some PR loving while post level links could get you some nice traffic.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jim Westergren of SEO Fusion fame wrote a very interesting article on his blog as an <a target="_blank" href="http://www.jimwestergren.com/an-update-what-helped-my-success-and-what-happened-then/" title="An Update, What Helped My Success and What Happened Then">update on his business</a>.  It&#8217;s a fairly long article, but very interesting from a business point of view.  Jim gives an inside look at to his business systems that should, at the same time, how easy it is to run a business but also how overwhelming it can be.</p>
<p>Jim mentions a four month profit of roughly $20,000.  Some will wonder how he could walk away from a two person business that is so profitable.  Read his article and you&#8217;ll see why.  While making money is important, there&#8217;s more to life than making money.  I totally feel for Jim when he talks about all the things he&#8217;s been wanting to do, but couldn&#8217;t because the <a href="http://www.destyonline.com/the-perils-of-owning-a-growing-business/" title="The Perils of Owning a Growing Business">business got in the way</a>.</p>

<p>Between the job, the businesses, and family, I&#8217;m surprised that I get 5 hours of sleep per night.  That&#8217;s why using the Google Reader to manage my RSS subscriptions is so handy.  I can log into my Google account from any computer, pull up my reader and scan a few articles when I have the time.  Be it when I&#8217;m running the anti virus scanner on my mother-in-law&#8217;s computer or making videos of the boys on my dad&#8217;s computer, Google&#8217;s RSS reader is just so convenient!</p>
<p>Yesterday while on the phone, I was scanning the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.megite.com/xml/doshdosh/1" title="Megite Doshdosh News Feed">Megit Doshdosh News feed</a> to see what was floating around the ether.  I Starred (the way you can mark articles in Google Reader) these articles because they caught my eye.  It will be until tonight before I actually have time to read all of them, but I like to share:</p>
